Start Time: 11:00 AM
Meeting at:
The parking lot outside
Best Little Hair House in Salem
4865 Commercial Street Southeast
Salem, OR 97302

That's Sunday before the Super Bowl.

Just another easy and probably short ride before the Super Bowl. We should be back in town at least by 2:00 PM
No planned route. Probably just ride south of Salem in the country. We will decide before we go. No planned leader either. Just a little ride. See you there.

Sorry for the short notice but with the weather what it is that is how the rides will be posted for now. Check the board often. Also this ride will depend on the weather so check the board that morning. A no or go should be posted by 8 am.

Count me in! Sounds like fun. Going to the Northern Lights after the ride to watch the Super Bowl on the really big screen!

Count me in. I was out today for about 150 miles, and it was glorious!

Where's the Best Little Hair House?

I'm thinking with that starting point we could head West to Independence or East Turner then decide on a turn by turn after that.

Great ride!

Biker Duck, what the heck happened? We saw you pull in just as we were pulling out. We stopped at the gas station at the next block but you just blew right by.

I tried to catch up but lost you just before you reached the freeway. You were moving! And blowing every yellow light. I tried blowing one and got pinched! Yep, the cop spotted me and stopped me. I was really hammering my bike too so I was doing almost 70 in a 45 zone. Fortunately, I didn't hit my breaks. I only throttled back so he didn't have a chance to guess my true speed. If he had, he wouldn't have let me off with a warning. WHEW! Well, my motorcycle driving record is safe. Still, not one single moving violation ticket and I've been riding since 1983... Can anyone else boast that?

Ok, I have gotten a few warnings. But no tickets!

Mindy got a little restless a couple times. The tank bag I have was perfect for Rockie, but Mindy is quite a bit longer so I am picking up a new bag Monday for her. They are pretty hard to find because most get tall, but very few go long.

Mindy is snoozing now. I headed off on my own at Hawthorne and Center. I stopped at the pet shop to get her a leash to keep on the bike and a dog bed also to keep on the bike. Then we stopped at the cycle shop to check out tank bags. I priced them online and will save so I called the shop and they will match the internet price. COOL! I'd pick it up today but I am taking my mom to Northern Lights to watch the super bowl.

See you all!

Great riding with you Geoff, Matt and Eric. (sorry Biker Duck)

Nice Ride. Thanks all. It was such a beautiful day that I just couldn't stop. I rode for another 60 miles after I left you all. I got home about 1:30. Lots of fun. Let's do it again on the next sunny day.

Well, I didn't do a very good job with my camera this time. I didn't get a single good picture from the bike of the group. I need to practice shooting with this camera without looking at the display because all of my shots were of my shoulder, the ground, the sky and my trunk. Not much to look at.

I did get two good shots of Mindy though. One in the parking lot before we took off and one on the road. Although, she looked away right as I took the picture. You can see the ground whizzing by, the gauges on the dash and Mindy in her pack watching the world go by. Below are the picture plus a lot more.

What gauges do you have on your windshield?

No gauges on my windshield, but on my dashboard. The Goldwing has a full fairing with all of my gauges. I have a tachometer, speedometer, fuel gauge, temperature gauge. Then below that I have my full color LCD screen that gives me a lot of information such as the radio station I am listening to, volume, time of day and when I am using my build-in GPS, I can see a full color map that tracks while I drive. In my windshield, I do have a vent that I can open if I want to let wind through to help cool me off. This time of year it is kept closed and I usually have my heated seat and hand grips turned on.

Oh. What I was looking at was a vent. Thanks for the enlightenment.
